A gantry machining center uses a bridge or double-column structure to machine large or heavy workpieces. The correct configuration depends on the fully fixtured part, usable clearance, table loading, spindle access, foundation, chip handling and site utilities. Nominal travel alone is not a complete selection method.

BUYER QUESTIONS
Send the part drawing, material, fixtured dimensions and weight, machining features, tolerance, surface-finish targets, annual volume, lifting plan, destination and site conditions. Large-machine selection must cover both the process and the installation.
The terms often overlap in the market. Buyers should compare the actual bridge structure, moving members, clearances, table arrangement, spindle head and supported work envelope instead of relying on the label.
Clamps, fixtures, toolholders and spindle-head geometry reduce the nominal working space. A clearance review helps prevent collisions and ensures that every required feature can be reached.
Acceptance should state geometry and positioning checks, test conditions, records, included accessories and any representative cutting trial. Site preparation and re-verification after installation should also be assigned clearly.
