To import a CNC machine from China safely, treat the purchase as an engineering and logistics project. Define the application and delivered scope, verify the supplier, agree factory and site acceptance, assign shipping responsibilities, prepare the facility and document warranty support before payment milestones are fixed.
Write the technical requirement first
Provide part drawings, materials, fixtures, tool list, production assumptions, accuracy needs and utilities. State required control options, guarding, voltage, documentation language and applicable destination requirements. Ask the supplier to list every exception. A model quotation without an application boundary leaves too much open to interpretation.
Verify the company and the offered machine
Check legal business details, manufacturing or integration role, physical address and authorized payment account. Request a live review of the proposed configuration and serial-numbered documents as the build progresses. References and video can support due diligence, but independent inspection may be appropriate for higher-risk purchases.
Make acceptance measurable
- List geometry, positioning, safety and functional checks.
- Define a representative cutting test and inspection method.
- Assign tools, material, instruments and travel costs.
- State how nonconformities are recorded and closed.
- Identify which tests repeat after shipping and installation.
Choose the shipping boundary explicitly
Agree packaging, corrosion protection, transport sections, insurance, export documents, destination customs, unloading and inland delivery. Use the selected ICC rule with a named place; Incoterms allocate delivery tasks and risk but do not replace a complete sales contract. Use qualified customs and legal advice for the destination.
Prepare installation before dispatch
Confirm foundation, floor loading, door and crane access, power, grounding, air, coolant, network and environmental conditions. Name who performs unloading, assembly, leveling, commissioning and training. Warranty start, response route, remote access, parts shipment and labor responsibility should be written, including exclusions.
