A CNC machine installation and commissioning checklist should cover the site before delivery, controlled unloading and assembly, utilities, safety verification, geometric and functional tests, sample cutting, training and documented handover. Final requirements must follow the machine supplier’s manuals and the destination’s applicable rules.
Before the machine ships
- Approve foundation, floor loading and anchor details where required.
- Confirm transport route, doorway, crane or forklift capacity and lifting plan.
- Provide the specified power, grounding, air, coolant and network services.
- Reserve operating and maintenance clearance around every service point.
- Agree who supplies tools, test material, instruments and consumables.
At receipt and unloading
Inspect packaging before movement and document visible damage. Match packages to the packing list and preserve transport indicators or records. Use only approved lifting points and methods. Quarantine uncertain equipment until the supplier or carrier gives a documented disposition.
During mechanical and electrical setup
Authorized personnel should remove transport restraints, assemble shipped sections, level the machine and connect utilities according to manuals. Confirm voltage and phase before energizing. Record software versions, parameters and backups. Guarding, interlocks, emergency stops and warning devices must be checked before production access.

Close with training and handover
Train named operators and maintenance staff on setup, normal use, alarms, recovery and service tasks. Deliver manuals, parameter backups, test records, warranty contacts and an open-item list with owners and dates. Do not treat first motion as final acceptance.
